Booked AnyVan in a rush, now very worried!

After waiting to move delay after delay, we were today given a moving date of Monday. I had seen that AnyVan.com were available at short notice and had thousands of good reviews on trust pilot so got them booked. Paid for premium packing service.

So tonight I do a more thorough search and it seems they are not as great as Trust Pilot makes out. Now very worried I've made a massive mistake. Can anyone reassure me?!!!!!

I used them for my house move about 18 months ago and they were good. Worked hard and were pleasant.

I had a terrible experience with Any Van, cancel
If you can, or at the least take out extra insurance.

ffscovid · 23/03/2022 23:39

I've used AnyVan loads (not for a house move though) and have never had an issue. It's a bit like eBay - you are bidding on a user to do the job, not 'AnyVan' themselves.
Check the feedback for the person you've given the job to and make sure they have adequate insurance cover (this is mentioned in their profile).

Had a great anyvan experience this week. It's just freelancers picking up jobs so of course it is slightly risky. But I'd take the chance.

Had an awful experience with AnyVan last year but guess I was unlucky since others have used them without issue. I didn’t realise the company outsources the work to freelancers. We were unfortunately allocated someone who simply didn’t turn up (house move so extremely stressful) and didn’t speak English so couldn’t communicate over the phone. AnyVan offered us £15 compensationHmm

I used them 3 times and they were great. Make sure you list down the number of boxes and furniture correctly so they send the correct van for you. The last time I missed out 1 chair, and they couldn't fit it in due to lack of space.

Favourodds · 24/03/2022 05:44

I've used then 3 times too and they've been really good every time. No complaints at all.

Porridgeislife · 24/03/2022 07:20

We had no choice but to use them to move just prior to June 30 stamp duty deadline last year, as other removal companies just laughed at us calling 4 weeks ahead of the move (apparently everyone was booked since March).

We were quite happy with them and their packing service, although it was extremely expensive.

Onlythelaundryfairy · 24/03/2022 07:22

I used them once years ago to collect furniture. No problems at all. It is just a matching service a bit like Uber though - someone offers space in their van, you need stuff moved, Anyvan matches you up.

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 24/03/2022 07:39

I have used them 3 times now for a house move and it was fine. My only advice would be you need to list every single item they move otherwise they will charge you extra on the day. (Do not underestimate the boxes either again they will charge).

Jarstastic · 24/03/2022 10:14

They are like Uber (ie freelancers) for moving things and it’s like a ride share- they pick up things and drop them off in a route with space allocated to each person’s things.

Moving day has come. Due to the terrible shoddy 'sevice" of the premium packing package, I am having a mini breakdown. There is stuff all over the house. They have cleared off as " they have have driven 4 hours from where they live in London" to start with (can't see how that's my fault) Have to hand the keys in to estate agents. What a mess. Somehow sitting here in disbelief writing this. Give me strength!!!

I'm so sorry, what a nightmare! Have you now got to finish all the packing by yourself?
