Selling mum's house. Update/decorate?

My sibling and I are shortly to be selling our late mother's house.

It's reasonably modern, decorated within the last 10 years, neutral white kitchen/bathroom.

With the exception of 2 rooms - hallway has 90s artex throughout, and lounge has historic yellowing from smoking - although she didn't smoke for the last 10 years.

We've almost certainly decided to leave the hallway. But will it be worth painting the ceiling?

I wouldn't worry about the artex.

Re the yellowing, what had yellowed? I've found on plastic fixtures etc it can be cleaned off without too much trouble and if its the walls then I'd slap some white paint over the top.

Washing walls and ceiling with sugar soap should help quite a bit with smoke-yellowing. Hard work to do it properly though.

I would try and scrub the yellowing if you can.

When we sold my DGMs house we didn't redecorate. It was clean just dated. Of course it depends on what you would like to realise. An estate agent could advise you properly.
