Help me buy a shower

I have no clue where to start! Thanks plumber isn't being much of a help - says Amazon is as good a place as any to get from.

I'm after a mixer shower (I think) for an ensuite. Pipes exposed and not concealed in tiles. Chrome, not sure what to go for apart from that! Help!

Do you have any bathroom stores nearby? We bought all our bathroom taps through a local bathroom shop. It was an indpendent, family set up and the guy who run it offered a good advice, helping us with the choice.
