Kitchen floor grouting

We had our kitchen floor done with lovely grey tiles and light grey grouting about a year ago. The grouting has become dark grey/grubby in different places, some darker than others. It’s such a shame as it has happened from cleaning the floor with a mop! Do grouting cleaners work, without too much heavy scrubbing? I’ve seen one for sale at Topps Tiles. And then would a grout sealant work to keep the grime at bay? Thanks

Sorry I don't know the answer but I want to keep track because I've got the same problem. Fingers crossed we'll get an expert on here soon :)

Same problem. We should have insisted on resin grout but tiler said he had to use traditional stuff.
Yes, I bought grout cleaner and scrubbed every single line, before sealing it.

Top tip - buy one of those battery vibrating toothbrushes - 2 for £6 - to reduce the effort.

It did clean up well but its too soon to tell if the sealant really will keep it clean

Thanks, that’s helpful to know - at least it’s hopefully worth the effort! Will try that.

When we were putting our house on the market I used the HG grout cleaner.

It’s very strong smelling but it worked an absolute treat with no scrubbing. Spray on > leave 30 minutes > wash off.

We have white grout though so if it’s a bleach would that work ok on grey grout?

I used the HG dilutable cleaner (which doesn't smell) rather than the spray as I didn't want spray near painted kitchen units. Then used HG sealer.
I couldn't get "before" to load yesterday so here it is

The 'Zep' range of grout cleaners and sealers are supposed to be good, but I haven't used them personally.

We've just grouted our new bathroom after tiling it and have used a grout sealer spray from Toolstation as I couldn't get the Zep one from Screwfix. We sealed the grout because it's dark grey and we live in a hard water area so I'm hoping it will reduce limescale on the grout.

Would you consider colouring the grout darker rather than trying to scrub it light again? I've always found that darker grout (on walls too, but especially floors) looks better for longer, and I bet this option would cost less in elbow grease!

I have grey tiles on my kitchen floor but I insisted on dark grey grout and it still looks good years later. It just does not show the dirt like pale grout does. I would scratch off top bit of pale grout and top up with a darker grout.
