Fitting an oven?

This might be a silly question but I'll ask anyway. Snapped the dial off my oven clean off - £40 for replacement and dh would be able to change it himself. Problem is the oven is integrated and there is a shelf directly above (he needs to take the oven out to change the dial) how do I remove a shelf that's fitted? Sorry if this sounds totally ridiculous but there aren't any screws or anything to remove it

I could be wrong, but he shouldn't need to? Most oven housings require you to just slide the oven in, so in theory, he should be able to slide it out...

I thought this too, but on the video (www.espares.co.uk/product/es612677/oven-function-selector-switch-anel-8071-79402) he would need to get to the dials from the top of the oven in order to change it, rather than sliding it out to do so. I've looked at the oven and the top seems welded in to the cupboard if that makes sense? I rang our home insurance and as the excess is more than the oven they said it might be worth just getting a new one if we didn't want to fix it ourselves - but then I have the same problem of I don't know how to get the old oven out to get the new one in 🙈
