HKOC Kitchen design

We're getting a Handmade kitchen of Christchurch. It's a 5m square room and it will be an L shape with an island

Has anyone paid for HKOC to do a home design?
Otherwise how has everyone designed their kitchen with them? Is the free service good?

Finally, can I have tips of how to have floor to ceiling units integrated into the corner/normal wall and floor units?

I used a kitchen design produced by another company (before I had decided which one to go with) and used that as a basis.

If you use Instagram there's an influencer on there with a HKOC kitchen who helped me with lots of questions (I also got some inspiration from her design!)

I'm struggling to write the name because it won't let me write underscores for some reason, so let me know if you're interested and I'll send a screenshot!!

I am on Instagram and interestingly just found a kitchen that is lovely. Her fridge freezer is on the opposite wall but I really like this design. We loved the bifolds in the showroom so this is a good way of doing it.
Definitely interested in the account you refer to!

Ah yes I've seen hers too! I love it. Good to hear that she's helpful too. It's so hard to get it right and we're keen to get units as wide as possible to save money!
Have you ordered worktops through them too?

That's a good idea re getting them wide! No I ordered my worktop separately because they didn't have quite what I was looking for 😊

Beggingforsleep · 20/03/2022 13:22

We’ve got a HKOC with floor to ceiling on one side and then floor only on the next wall. We’ve got open shelving in the nook with the worktop stretching under it. It works well. We slide the toaster in and out of the bottom shelf (so sits on the worktop) and have big cooking pots above.

They didn’t do worktops when I asked about four months ago. But maybe they do at the moment.

That sounds lovely! The picture above has open shelving too, it gives a lovely bit of character too

Can anyone tell me if gap for dishwasher unit is correct ? Kitchen fitter was here yesterday and it doesn’t look right 😥

That's not right - ours fits flush.

incognitodorrito · 05/11/2022 09:52

Thanks @Oliveandbay - can you send a pic please ? I’ll pass it onto kitchen fitter as it looks really odd !

incognitodorrito · 05/11/2022 09:52

@Oliveandbay do you have the same skirting as mine ?

jimjamy · 05/11/2022 09:57

There is a separate piece for that gap. It's just a batten, fitted to the side units (or vertical side panel in your case). It has a chamfered top edge so that the door can open and close without hitting it. Hopefully it's hanging around somewhere, painted, and ready to fit in.

incognitodorrito · 05/11/2022 10:05

Is this the part ? Can be painted for kitchen fitter arriving again on Monday.

yes, that's it. The fitting instructions say it will "resemble a goal post" for your style of plinth.
I'd want to be sure that I can take the dishwasher out reasonably easily, so perhaps check that with your fitter.

jimjamy · 05/11/2022 10:26

nice worktop, what is it?

incognitodorrito · 05/11/2022 20:05

It’s quartz from a local supplier in the North West. Thank you for getting back to me. Husband started fitting kitchen and 12 mths later I’ve needed to get kitchen fitter in to finish 🙈

We’ve ordered our new kitchen and utility from HMKOC, did anyone fit it and paint themselves?
alternatively does anyone recommend their fitter if near North London? Thank you!
