Estate Agents Rant

Just needed to vent a bit. We are looking for a property and we know at the moment the market is ridiculously tough. I now try to call an estate agent as soon as something comes on to get booked in as they are getting booked within the hour.

So onto my rant. I found the perfect property yesterday and called up but got put through to head office as no one was answering at the regional office. They said someone would be in touch ASAP, for good measure I also enquired via one of the property portals. I got a text message a few hours later from the branch manager saying would be in touch shortly to arrange a time for viewing. I did message back saying thanks and left it......

Time passed and nothing as end of the day was coming up and I was aware of how quick bookings go I messaged saying I was going to be on tube so just to email/or leave a message and we are super keen.

Today still nothing I have tried the office multiple times but its just rings out to where it eventually transfers to the head office. I am just frustrated as i know this house ticks a lot of boxes and want to get in.

I've asked head office again to please get in touch as we are in a position to buy (the listing stated the owners have found somewhere and need to sell so we are a match made in heaven).

I know I am just getting annoyed over nothing but this office has 5 active listings and if it's gone I would rather someone just tell me. I think its the lack of comms and the fact they would be in touch shortly and its now nearly 24 hours later.

Sorry i just needed to vent and rant - understand I am probably blowing it all out of proportion but after loosing out on a few houses just another kick when feeling down.

Thanks for your patience mumsnetters!

That does sound really rubbish. We finally bought and moved last summer, but it was a long and painful year leading up to that, definitely not helped by some EAs! I think it's just luck of the draw at the moment, if you happen to get through they will book you in, but if you don't then all the slots go so quickly :(

Sounds like a tiny agency. Can you physically go to the office? Put a note through the door of the house saying you are trying to arrange a viewing but no luck?
