Land registry

Hi All, I moved into my new place in December. I recently chased my solicitor about when my land registration would be complete. She said (well she didn't reply - it was her assistant) that she phoned land registry and they said it was likely to be June 2023?! She gave no context or explanation as to why it would take so long (typical of how they acted throughout the entire purchase).

I've looked online and whilst I appreciate land registry are experiencing delays, I can only find references to it taking a few months, maybe up to a year in extreme circumstances.

Anyone have any ideas why I am being told June 2023?!

Charlottemh · 16/03/2022 11:48

I was told land registry have covid related backlogs - we moved early August & only received land registry finished paperwork a few weeks ago

The Land Registry delays are dreadful at the moment and even simple applications are taking forever. If it's a new-build, it really will take a very long time at the moment.

Thanks. Yes anything up to a year I would have accepted but 20 months seems unprecedented. It’s not a new build, although it came with a lease extension - maybe that’s made it more complicated..

Mine took 2.5 years

Leslavandes - thanks, that is good to know!

The house I've bought was unregistered god knows how long it will take! I'm expecting more than a year. Ridiculous really using covid as an excuse after all this time.

totallybonafido · 16/03/2022 14:07

My sale took about 9 months to show up. My buyer's solicitor was really crap and slow.

We moved into a new build in November. Rang HM Land Registration today and was told April next year at earliest .

parkrunner1977 · 28/06/2022 15:23

We bought a house in April & received the updated Land Registry title with our details from our solicitor last week so that's 2.5 months. When we bought in June last year we had the updated title by end of July. Must just be lucky!

GreenTea70 · 28/06/2022 16:30

I bought back in Feb 21 and still not registered!

hazelnutlatte · 28/06/2022 16:37

My parents have just bought a house - the land registry document still was not available from when the previous purchaser bought the house 18 months earlier! They paid a fee to get it expedited, so then it took about 4 weeks

ihavespoken · 28/06/2022 16:40

Yes ask them to ask Land Registry to expedite it and it will be quicker.

Waystation · 28/06/2022 16:42

We bought December 2020 - it was a split title plan - we have been told it will be December this year (22) before we have the title - partly due to our useless solicitor who ignored queries from the LR - so it went back to the end of the queue.
