Move or stay?

We've recently accepted an offer on our 90s semi and are in the process of finding another house. Our main reason for moving is location (I would like to be nearer to my mum - currently an hour away on public transport) and we'd also like a bit more space upstairs, plus room for a downstairs toilet. Our house does also need quite a bit of work. The trouble is, we have viewed lots of houses and just haven't found anything we would like! A lot of the houses in our budget don't really offer anything more in terms of size - none of them had conservatories though which in our case is wasted space. Would you continue to look, or pull out of the sale and work on what we have? We have considered removing the conservatory and adding an extension, but the costs are a worry.

Any advice would be welcome!

Do you really want to move to be closer to your Mum? I am a bit unsure as to if you do or not. If so, then you will need to compromise by the sounds of it

@MarineBlue33 Thanks for the reply. Yes, we would love to move closer however increasing living costs/bills are a concern. I will think about our options a bit more.

Are you asking about replacing the conservatory in your current house? I doubt you'd get your money back on that if you then decided to move after all.

You say you're an hour away on public transport, is there any possibility of learning to drive? As that could drastically reduce the travel time.

Whatever you decide be upfront with your buyer. I was kept hanging on for three months last summer by a seller who wanted to move closer to her mother - I'd already sold and ended up in an expensive Airbnb. I had to pull out after three months waiting and she decided not to sell in the end. Her agent kept saying she was making offers and losing out - my response was she either had to look at cheaper properties or make compromises as she was wasting my time.

Thanks, everyone, for the responses. We've much to mull over.
