Livinroom Ultraframe

Hello. We’re currently considering a livin-room conservatory from Ultraframe and wondered if anyone else has one of these and if you would recommend? It will be fully insulted with an internal pelmet for spotlights and we’ll run our main heating out into it. Will this make it a genuine usable space all year round? They tell me it will be but ideally I’d like to get feedback from somebody who’s actually got one. Thanks

Hi! Sorry to jump in here after so long but did you ever go ahead with this? I'm now considering something similar with Ultraframe! Thanks

Hi RosesareRed342, yes we did :) We really do love the new space we've got. We had an old UPVC conservatory before and we made the decision to knock it down and rebuild it with cavity insulated walls and the insulated Ultraframe pelmet. It's a massive improvement on what we had and we've had a lot of compliments on how it impressive it looks. But I think my honest feedback is that it's not perfect and, given the amount of glass in the roof, it can still be chilly when it's cold outside and the heating isn't on. (Not really an issue when it's winter and the radiators are switched on a lot but the "in between" time of autumn can feel a slight chill.) It's still a huge improvement on what we had and ultimately it's the best we could do as we couldn't afford a complete traditional extension. It's made a big difference to our family space and we're really glad we did it. Hope that helps

Thank you @Littlepugg that's honestly so helpful! I'm pleased that you see it as an improvement. I'm in the same situation in that we have a leaky, uninsulated old conservatory that we need to upgrade as it's currently a no go zone. Wanted to build a proper extension but that's now looking out of budget as costs have skyrocketed.

Please can I ask - do you have a radiator/heater in the extension bit? Also, would you mind sharing roughly the cost? Also how long did the build take. Weighing up options now!

Glad to help, when we were looking to build I couldn't really find much feedback about the livinroom pelmet idea so it felt like a slight gamble! Yes we've installed a central heating radiator in the new extension area which works perfectly and it's lovely and toasty and warm in there (and great because it clicks on at the same time as the heating with the rest of the house whereas in our old conservatory we had a plug in radiator!)
Ours cost £32k all in and that included everything so no surprise costs - fitting new radiator, new flooring, pendant lights etc. We also had quite a big space built (not sure how big you're planning) Ours is 5m x 4m. It probably took about 3 months to be completely finished including knocking down our old conservatory. Used a local builder in conjunction with local conservatory company who were licensed to seel Ultraframe products

Thank you! That's really good to know and much closer to our budget. We are looking to build a similar size too so that's helpful. Just had a quote from a builder for £85k and we were totally shocked as we just want a very simple space.

We have a local registered Ultraframe supplier coming next week to chat to us so fingers crossed 🤞! Thank you for all of your help!
