We found our dream home (sorry for yucky phrase!) last year. Put an offer in back in November which was accepted. Our house is sold.

But the owners of the house we want to move into haven’t found anywhere yet and it just isn’t moving at all.

DH is prone to panicking and is looking elsewhere but there just isn’t much out there.

WWYD? Find somewhere and leave the dream home or hang on in there?

Rent?

Pinkblueoryellow · 12/03/2022 14:13

We could rent, but then if the dream house does end up pulling out what then, if you see what I mean.

I would encourage you to think how long you’re willing to wait. I know I’d have to have a limit and it strikes me that your sellers are also in paralysis. I would personally set a deadline and be prepared to tell the chain it’s off.

I agree. You need to put a deadline on it. It will either spur them into some action (or into rented themselves), or it won't happen - better you're able to keep looking than wait endlessly.

We were in this situ in the summer. Our seller was hellbent on a particular house but her sellers hadn’t found anywhere (well they had but changed their mind). We’d had our offer accepted the first week of August, moved out of ours 1st Sept, then had a very stressful period of holding out with DH kicking off bigstyle a few months in. They found somewhere by mid September which wasn’t too bad, but their solicitors and our seller’s solicitors really dragged things out, and we almost pulled out. We moved in on 22 nd Dec after threatening to pull out. 4 months is nothing in the scheme of things, but it was very stressful, as DH was ready to pull out before I was and we were at loggerheads for a long 3 weeks! Just make sure you’re 100% on the same page if you are going to hold out. Good luck
