Mortgage with my bank - do I still need a broker?

My own bank is coming up cheapest on mortgage comparison sites.
Do I still need a broker to handle the paperwork? Is it onerous? Or is it straightforward with your own bank?

Thanks!

You don't need a broker, do it directly with the bank.

We’ve never bothered with a broker. As long as you can find a good deal there’s no need really

Just ring them up and they will check their best deals that match your circumstances. You don’t need a broker as it’s easy and straightforward. They have your details already and will sort it on the phone. They issue paperwork and you sign the new terms and conditions and it gets submitted. You can’t go wrong. It’s not a new mortgage just a change of rate.

My broker found me a larger mortgage (I wanted to release money for home improvements) at a much lower interest rate than was advertised on the banks website.

It's up to you -if you are happy with the deal you've found then that's fine.
I personally would want to know I was getting access to the whole of market deals that a broker can get you.
