Retro fitting sash windows with double glazing

Hi community, I read the thread about costs of fitting new sash windows and from the conversation realised that you could fit original sash windows with double glazing. I then started to search the costs and wondered if anyone had done this and what savings they had made by using the original box and fitting double glazing into original sash frames? I also wondered if anyone who had done this, how it was managed as you would have to remove the window for a time and what level of inconvenience this was? Lookin for any ones input around this matter. Thanks.

Are you thinking of doing it yourself or getting someone to replace them for you? You can either replace the whole wooden unit, with or without the boxing, or just replace the single glazed glass with double glazed panels.
