Mortgage application to approval

Hey all, so my broker submitted my mortgage application Wednesday and I haven't heard anything as yet. Is this standard and they'll do the survey and then tell me the results? I wasn't sure if they let you know first. I know it can take a few weeks for the mortgage to be approved. It's my first time and I'm nervous. The last payment agreement ended back in 2016 and I've got no debts, and have a 150k deposit so I'm just praying no issues. It's so nerve wracking!
How long has everyone's offer to completions taken? I'll be fretting for the next few months I think!

I was told immediately when mine got approved. Maybe they're just busy and haven't got around to letting you know yet?

I think our application via a mortgage broker to approval took around a week, and maybe around another week after that to receive the mortgage offer in the post (may have been slightly less).
I can’t give you a timeframe for offer to completion exactly , but we had our offer accepted at the end of January, had our mortgage appointment a couple of days after, our survey was done on Tuesday just gone and our local searches by the solicitor are due back in around 2 weeks. We haven’t been given a date for possible completion yet but it all seems to be moving along nicely :)

Ours (bank funded) was knocked off committee twice due to apparently ‘current world affairs’. We are almost three weeks in & the valuer has just been booked out.

Thanks all. I guess it really varies! I know my MIP is accepted and then I got a document that gave me the mortgage details, interest, and that with a good survey and no details changing the mortgage would be given. I think it's the surveyor now, maybe they'll do it and tell me. There's so much to prepare! And the worry of pulling out, there's not much protection in England from what I can see, until completion. I hope everyone's goes smoothly, fingers crossed In a few months we'll all be complete!

Have you heard anything in the last few days? Im in the same position and things seem to be taking a while, my DH is self employed so that may causw delays…

I think depends on the lender and the property. We are in the process of buying and selling a house and our lender is Halifax. We went straight through them and we got our mortgage offer the same day as we also bank with them so they could see all our wages etc and also they did a "virtual valuation" and didn't go and inspect the property in person so was almost instant after they submitted our application and we paid our £100 valuation fee.

I've done two in the last few months, Barclays took 3+ weeks, TSB took 5 days. Has the valuation been done?

When you say payment agreement, do you mean you’ve previously been in default / IVA?
