Hey people,

We are looking to buy a house in Bexleyheath and eyeing on a property on Halcot Avenue. While the house is big and nicely renovated to our taste, we aren't sure about the area.

  1. How's the neighborhood to raise a girl child? How safe it is? We are told by a friend that majority the houses on Halcot Avenue are non standard construction (steel frame) originally built for council housing.

Btw, the house that we are looking at is standard construction and is few metres away from the Gravel hill road.

  1. How is Gravel hill primary school? The Ofsted rating is Good but any feedback on the overall reputation of this school.

We are an Indian family based in East London and are pretty unfamiliar with Bexleyheath and neighboring localities.. would love to know more from people living there.Smile

I grew up in that area and went to that primary school.
I would not buy a house on Halcot Avenue.
The school was ok (long time ago).

Yes @ChoiceMummy!

I had a friend who lived there so spent a lot of time there and it was really not a nice place to live.

I maintained the heating in most of the houses on halcot avenue a few years ago. Most properties were owned by London and Quadrant housing association. It's not a great road to be honest. Some terrible tenants (some lovely ones of course but the bad ones were really bad)

@PammieDooveOrangeJoof @ChoiceMummy @Omg8

Wow.. Thank you very much for all the genuine feedbacks.. really appreciate it..

Any other rough areas that I should avoid? Which areas are recommended for an expat family to raise children?

I live in Bexleyheath - have done for 7 years. It's really not a bad place!
I cannot comment on Halcot Avenue though as I'm not familiar with it

Halcot ave had a boys school and is quite busy. I'd look at the other side of Bexleyheath and barnehurst way.
