Rightmove house with a tortoise room!

We're thinking of moving to this area and saw this house. It seems to have reasonably sized rooms but one bedroom seems to be a tortoise room. I'm torn between what a lovely idea and WTF.

Will the floor be soaked in tortoise pee? Is there visible mould in the tortoise room or just an unfortunate shadow? Anyway, thought someone might like a look at it, otherwise perfectly normal house.

@AwkwardPaws27 how lovely! Shame I don't have most of a million pounds. Nice house though.

Oops sorry here
Crikey

Good work on ending the mystery for us, although I kind of regret looking now...

ClariceQuiff · 02/03/2022 16:55

Just leaving this here for anyone else going gooey over the baby tortoise:

@AlternativePerspective

A colleague of mine went to view a house once where all the doors from the kitchen cupboards had been removed and replaced with wire mesh, and they were all filled with birds. 😱.
I had to visit a pupil's parent. The entire kitchen had been turned into an aviary. It was full of canaries flying around. The doors and windows were covered in wire mesh. The kitchen couldn't be used for its purpose.

Can't see any rooms with a tortoise !?!?

CornedBeef451 · 02/03/2022 17:15

@Lulu1919 it's been removed from Rightmove but if you scroll through the thread ivfbabymomma1 posted a screenshot of it.

Spent way too long looking for the tortoise!!!

OverByYer · 02/03/2022 17:57

Omg that tortoise room is grim. Thanks for the photo @ivfbabymomma1.

MirandaWest · 02/03/2022 19:04

Just read the whole thread, thought I was going mad when I couldn’t find the tortoise then very glad to see a screenshot of it 😃

EnjoyingTheSilence · 02/03/2022 19:24

Wow they should never have included that photo to begin with and the owners need to get that ceiling sorted!

I see the mould but I still can't see the tortoise!!
CornedBeef451 · 02/03/2022 20:25

It's under the little stool by the window.

Thank you for saving my sanity @ivfbabymomma1
And jeez, that is a terrible looking room, all that mould! No wonder the agent pulled that photo, it’s proper grim.

viques · 02/03/2022 21:41

@AgentProvocateur

I’ve spent the last 15 minutes looking at the pictures in detail, trying to find the sodding tortoise 😂

On a tortoise-related note, how do you pronounce it? I heard someone say tort-us recently, which I’d never heard before. (I say tort-toys).

Like porpoise.
ivfbabymomma1 · 02/03/2022 23:11

Ha ha no problem!! X

Oh wow! I can see why the estate agent removed that tantalising photo 😂
CornedBeef451 · 07/03/2022 21:25

The tortoise house hasn't sold yet but pretty much everything else new has! Wonder if they've had any viewings.

Furries · 20/03/2022 01:27

For those that saw the photo before it disappeared - I’m impressed that you saw the tortoise, it blends in really well with the carpet!

CornedBeef451 · 24/03/2022 15:00

That's not carpet, its hay!

Still hasn't sold. That little area seems slow selling compared to nearer to the town though so might not just be because of the tortoise room.

ivykaty44 · 24/03/2022 15:10

I can’t see it either ??

CornedBeef451 · 24/03/2022 20:59

@ivykaty44 they removed the photo but luckily someone took a screen shot and posted it earlier in the thread. It's hiding under the stool.

I say tort-us.

@mathanxiety

I say tort-us.
Definitely the correct way IMO!

Our neighbour is elderly and has a 50 odd year old tortoise and she had asked if we wanted to take him on - as you know, they can live to a ripe old age!
I was seriously considering it and had a romantic view of a pet that I only have to look after in spring and summer that would eat dandelion leaves and odd ends of veg but it sounds like too much hard work!
