Rightmove house with a tortoise room!

We're thinking of moving to this area and saw this house. It seems to have reasonably sized rooms but one bedroom seems to be a tortoise room. I'm torn between what a lovely idea and WTF.

Will the floor be soaked in tortoise pee? Is there visible mould in the tortoise room or just an unfortunate shadow? Anyway, thought someone might like a look at it, otherwise perfectly normal house.

Procrastinating and looking for a non existent tortoise room Grin this thread is hilarious!

skgnome · 02/03/2022 13:13

Also sad I missed the tortoise

BlanketsBanned · 02/03/2022 13:16

Its a bit daft to remove the photo, anyone viewing it without knowing how bad that room was will be really pissed off and ask why the agent kept it quiet. I did see the pic and it was damp, mouldy and dirty.

AchillesLastStand · 02/03/2022 13:18

@SandysMam

I have just spent way to much time looking for a non existent tortoise!!!
Me too!! It was like where’s Wally!
viques · 02/03/2022 13:21

@Stillafatknacker

I can't see a Bedroom 1 or a tortoise?! Confused
The tortoise was in bedroom 1. I think they are doing a quick revamp of bedroom 1 (sans tortoise ). It did look pretty grim, the tortoise was far and away the best thing in the room being a good size and a lovely colour.
murderbythebook · 02/03/2022 13:27

I have been peering under the beds and squinting at corners trying to find the tortoise!

If anyone has a screenshot of the little guy, please show us...I feel I I've missed out! 🐢

CornedBeef451 · 02/03/2022 13:46

I'm sorry everyone. The tortoise was still there before 8am as I showed DD before she went to school.

The house only went on Rightmove on Saturday so maybe the Estate Agent had a look at the posting this morning and took the photo down.

It's interesting the responses about prices, I guess if you live in London this is incredibly cheap and then other places it seems wildly expensive.

I am horrified by house prices. Ours has gone up by half again since we bought it 7 years ago but the next step up seems like an enormous amount now.

Plus our house is a weird layout but quite a big living area so we've ended up looking at houses that are smaller inside but way more expensive for an extra bedroom. It's quite disheartening but then the excitement of a tortoise room cheered me right up!

Never heard of a tortoise room in a house. Sounds interesting though.

I think , and hope, that “I saw the Norton tortoise!” will become the new penis beaker/Mexican house/ Korean old lady proof brought out to prove ones MN credentials.

I went on an unsuccessful hunt for the photo, but I found this house!

"The resident tortoise, which has lived at the house for over 70 years, will remain at the property."

I’ve spent the last 15 minutes looking at the pictures in detail, trying to find the sodding tortoise 😂

On a tortoise-related note, how do you pronounce it? I heard someone say tort-us recently, which I’d never heard before. (I say tort-toys).

ThisIsGroundControl · 02/03/2022 16:37

Tor Toise I can't put it into words but not like you do Smile

ivfbaby I've been looking all over the Internet for that picture, proof once posted it is there for ever.

CornedBeef451 · 02/03/2022 16:38

@ClemFandangoo that is the cutest tortoise!
