Has anyone used a company to respray windows or patios to a different colour, we have a patio we put in about 4 years ago which we now want to change to different colours. We got wood effect inside outside and inside but now want to change to antharcite on the outside and white on the inside. sizeof the pario is 1700mm x 2000mm

Too costly to just change back out as was approx 2500 to put in.

If you have, what was the approx cost for this, any companys recommended or be wary of?

I looked into this and was told that the [huge] expense involved in this job was because of all the masking that had to be done when spraying upvc windows. So mostly time/labour costs. That painting was far more cost efficient.

After lots of research and talking to a decorator I decided to paint my windows and patio doors myself...I was recommended Zinsser All Coat exterior satin, nothing else is as good [for painting]. No prep needed apart from a good clean of the frames beforehand.

So I did 6 windows and 2 sets of patio doors which were brown woodgrain on the outside/white on the inside. But I have a bungalow so no problem with any first floor windows and I've done up quite a few houses/bungalows in my time so have done tons of painting.

There's an art to using that particular paint too...absolutely not when the sun is on the window [preferably on a cooler day in spring/autumn] and brush in one direction only. That is important.

The result is amazing, looks professional and so smart. 2 years on now and no problems at all. However I don't know your budget and anthracite isn't done by Zinsser in that range I don't think.

Just telling you my experience of doing this which was very successful. My DIL wanted the same done but her painter/decorator won't touch it as the top windows are very high up. Her quote from a chap who would spray it was £3k...ordinary 3 bed semi 7 windows, 1 set of patio doors....but needs scaffolding before starting anything.
