Simply that. Are sharps and hammonds good value for money? I’m Derbyshire way so would appreciate any recommendations too. Many thanks

If you are near Derby you could try these, they did my kitchen 5 years ago and their customer service is excellent, my friend had one of their bedrooms and was really happy with it, don’t be put off by their website or the exterior of their showroom!

Go independent with local carpenter recommendations and not one of the big companies. The quality will be far superior and it will cost sooo much less. This cost us about £7k, Sharps quoted £20k...

@Scottishgirl85 these are lovely! If you don't mind me asking, whereabouts did you get the units from ? I'm looking for something similar. Thanks!

Butterfly44 · 06/06/2022 08:53

Local carpenter as @Scottishgirl85 says. I did the exact same. Would never go to Sharps etc. they charge thousands more for what a carpenter can do bespoke to your exact requirements.

@Hype22 those aren't bought units - they are made by a carpenter.

@Butterfly44 @Scottishgirl85 oh wow! I'll ask around for some recommendations. Thank you! Sharps and hammonds gave me some crazy quotes. Customer reviews have also left me with very little confidence in them. Thanks!

Hype22 · 06/06/2022 11:11

@Butterfly44 @Scottishgirl85 No chance any of you are based in manchester and can pass on your carpenters' details 😃

Scottishgirl85 · 06/06/2022 11:18

Hi, sorry we're in Buckinghamshire. Ask locally for recommendations. And be aware, good carpenters will have a very long lead time (ours was 6 months wait).

We were not impressed with Sharps at all. But Hammonds gave us great service and a good price for what we wanted.

Butterfly44 · 06/06/2022 12:50

@Hype22 I've had carpenters do my built in wardrobes in two dfferernt moves. I drew the design I wanted - shelves, hanging rails, drawers etc. along a whole wall. I then found carpenters on local town facebookgroup/gumtree to come give a quote. Chose who i was happy with and reasonable. Definitley the way to go. 4x cheaper than say Sharps/Hammonds. Carpenters are great. They build what you want.

@Scottishgirl85 They look amazing. I'm currently awaiting exchange on a property in Bedfordshire. I'd be really interested to know your carpenters details please, if they do neighbouring counties? 😀
