Clevercloset - how much rubbish are you left with?

Hi
We're having clever closet in a few weeks to do a tallboy and six drawers. Can I ask anyone who has had similar, how many binbags of waste are you left with? Did you hire a skip? etc

We're having a medium sized skip for another project the previous week so I'm hoping there will still be a bit of space in it but not sure.

Thank you!

sorry can't help your question, but just looked up Clever Closet, what a fab idea.
Is it really expensive?

DivotyFarm · 25/02/2022 15:37

We had 3 drawers and it was a couple of bags of broken up plasterboard and the old skirting board so nowhere near enough for a skip.

Thank you so much @divotyFarm

@thelonggame they quoted me 1100 for tallboy and three drawers and 1500 for tallboy and six drawers. I'm so excited!

Ooh we're having them out in a few weeks to fit tall boy and six drawers too! I can't wait to have all that extra storage space. We've had to wait three months for the fitting date so guess they've been busy.
For those who have had the install done already - were you pleased with the finish? I'm a bit worried as we have a Victorian house and the stair case wall can only be described as a bit wavy!

thelonggame · 25/02/2022 18:39

thanks @Lottle that's less than I imagined.
Would love to see pics once they have finished

niki26 · 25/02/2022 20:37

We only had a little space but it's made such a difference!

SvartePetter · 25/02/2022 20:41

We've had ours for 8 years now, still love them!

elvislives2012 · 25/02/2022 20:43

We had them last year and I LOVE them. Hardly any rubbish and they were so good. Really professional

DivotyFarm · 26/02/2022 19:04

We had to get them back out as the fitter replaced the skirting immediately under the units with a much taller version of what we had on the rest of that wall and same for the strip that runs up the stairs. It looked shit and we raised it whilst he was fitting it but he made some crap excuse. We contacted head office and they got him to come back and replace the skirting on the rest of that wall so it didn't suddenly change height.

The units themselves mark very easily, we've had ours nearly a year and they look grubby but it doesn't wipe off readily. Very happy with them though, the drawers fit loads in.

DivotyFarm · 26/02/2022 19:07

You can see the skirting issue here.

What a fantastic idea. I don't have an under-stairs area like that though, so no good for my house.

The 60 second desk is amazing.

Octomore · 26/02/2022 20:37

I've never heard of this, but that picture is what we have in our house. We just got a local carpenter to design and make it.

I love it, wouldn't swap it for anything.

We had them do our Understairs storage years ago when they were new to England and still called Smart Storage.
We had a tallboy and 6 drawers, it’s been brilliant, they’re really sturdy and strong. We used to keep our dyson in one of them.

In terms of mess, we weren’t left with any, when the guy knocked the wall out it created a load of dust and debri but he cleared it all up and took all the waste away.

The one thing I will say is that the drawers do get grubby where you push them open. They do clean up but ours haven’t gone back to white. They are paintable though so I’ve decided to paint ours in the same eggshell as our woodwork now as we’re redecorating.

Has anyone had this done with a pre-existing meter in the understairs space?

LondonNQT · 28/02/2022 14:38

Not yet but planning to @Hadjab - have you considered smart meters?

Hadjab · 28/02/2022 14:41

@LondonNQT I like you thinking! I do have a smart meter installed so presumably it shouldn't be an issue, and I"m assuming the drawers can pull out?

Thanks!
