Is this tap salvageable?

I poured toilet limescale cleaner over my new Bristan tap and it did this 🤦🏼‍♀️

I've tried metal cleaners but they did nothing. Do I need to get a new tap or is there anything you know of that can help rescue this mess?

Scrub it with screwed up tin foil? Might work, worth a try

No it’s not salvageable. You’ve removed the chrome surface. I did the same. Tap still useable so I’ve not replaced it yet.

I'd try Solvol Autosol chrome polish, might bring that back, was my go-to for chrome on my bike.

Thank you, yes I think there's no return but I will try the Solvol chrome polish. I can't bear to look at it anymore as it looks dirty, so will replace it if the polish doesn't work. Lesson learned.
