Sewage flood - has this happened to you?

Hi 👋🏻

Just wondered if anyone had any experience of a sewage flood into their property?
It's happened to us this week with the heavy rain and I'm wondering what to expect in terms of the smell going away.
Luckily we have hard floors but the smell has got into soft furnishings and under floorboards, etc

If anyone can reassure me the smell will eventually go away it'll be a big relief!

Hi op, not quite the same but this happened to a rented house we lived on a few years ago.
Drains were blocked, company came in, blasted them and everything came up the way! Bloody awful.
As it was rented, professional cleaners came in for the carpets etc. No smell afterwards though!
Good luck!

Oh god, horrendous!
Were you living there at the time or was it before you moved in?

Have you spoken to your insurance company?

Thanks @Badgertastic
They're not accepting calls because of the recent storms so I've put in a claim online.
Very shocked the water companies are NOT liable for home flooding any more.
They're refunding our waste water charge for the year but that's it. Er, thanks southern water, so generous!

Think I'm most concerned about how long the smell will linger.
