How much of a regular survey is back covering, do you reckon? Eg recommending specialist reports for absolutely everything from roofing (which we're doing) to guttering replacement. Are there subtleties of language that differentiate between 'don't touch with barge pole' and 'broadly ok'?
The surveyor said on initially doing the survey, and before she sent the report, that "no single item of disrepair would necessarily** stop the purchase from continuing, although a few items of maintenance, repair and further investigation will be mentioned in your Building Survey and you will need to allow time to obtain all relevant reports and quotations prior to legal commitment to purchase." DH on reading the actual report is utterly freaking out.
