Lateral building ties end terrace

Hi. I am looking at an end terrace house that has had lateral building ties put in about 10 years ago to remedy structural issues and a loft extension about 3 years ago. The sellers carried out the remedial work to standards and claim to have had no problems since. The EA says don't worry but would you be concerned? I like the house but I worry that resale could be an issue or that there will be a problem with the ties in the future. What would you do? I have already offered asking price but it's going to best and final and I am considering pulling the offer.

We are buying a house that has had lateral wall and floor restraints added recently. They are guaranteed for 25 years. Friend who works in heritage building work said they are incredibly reliable and not something to worry about. We felt reassured enough to go ahead. Old wall ties can corrode and be a problem but modern helifix are a safe bet. I hope.

Ah, thanks, that is good to know. In any event, I went ahead with my offer this morning but found out later that I lost out to a cash buyer but it's good to know if something similar comes up again in the future. Thank you.

Sorry to hear you didn’t get it it’s a tough market for buyers at the moment. Fingers crossed you find your new home soon.

Glad the decision has been taken out of your hands.
Personally, having had the stress of similar structural failure, I wouldn't do it. Even if it's fixed, you'll always be worrying and looking for cracks.
And just like you're a bit put off now, I would think it will raise a question with future purchasers.

Thanks, yes I am feeling quite relieved actually because I really was in two minds and the EA was acting like I was being super unreasonable 🤔
Oh well, not my issue anymore. Thanks for the well-wishes. It is a really bad time to be buying - total sellers market. I am seeing a nice looking one on Tuesday so fingers crossed!
