It’s a shame I can’t attach a video to actually show you how bad the water is coming in but our landlord doesn’t seem to think this is a priority?

I had a leaky flat roof in an rented property once

My landlord didn't think it was a priority

Then I came home one rainy day and the ceiling in the kitchen and bathroom had collapsed...

Keep on at the landlord!

Hoochyhoo · 16/02/2022 22:22

He has known about this for over a year and done nothing and now it’s way worse

You have my sympathy OP. We recently had a burst hearing cylinder which ran into the kitchen for 3 weeks before it finally got repaired. We were lucky the ceiling didn't come in. Not even mentioning the oven that hasn't been properly fitted for over a year or the freezer with no drawers.
We are finally moving into our own house at the beginning of March and I can't wait to not have to deal with shit landlords any more.

Damp and mould too 😡

Maybe contact environmental health at your council

EnglishGirlApproximately · 16/02/2022 22:35

You need to take advice on how to deal with it, that's awful. Maybe call Shelter?

MrsMoastyToasty · 16/02/2022 22:44

Remind him he's not protecting his investment.

Hoochyhoo · 16/02/2022 22:47

It’s been leaking water really bad all night the ceiling looks like it could cave in at any moment and now there’s a hole in it

Will contact environmental health in the morning, worried it’s not safe with 3 small kids

@Hoochyhoo I hope you get it sorted, I would deffo phone council in the morning see what they can advise.

Total joke when you’re paying your rent etc.

Have you sent him current photos what you posted here? If you have and he’s still ignoring the problem, wow!

LemonViolets · 16/02/2022 22:58

This happened to me, it could fall at any moment,
Can you move any furniture or belongings out of the room to protect them from damage if it does fall?

And definitely contact the council asap.

Hoochyhoo · 16/02/2022 22:58

Yes they have the photos that I’ve put up here it’s an actual joke I can’t believe they’re not seeing this as urgent.

My partner phoned them up and all they had to say was ah well we have water coming in our house aswell 🤨

Are you renting through an agent or just to LL? When we were renting we had a pipe leaking through to the kitchen of the flat below. We called an emergency plumber and emailed the invoice to the agent who reimbursed us. Might not be so easy if no agent involved but this looks like something you can’t afford to wait around for someone to agree to fix.

Hoochyhoo · 17/02/2022 10:10

We deal with the landlord directly unfortunately

NinaDefoe · 17/02/2022 10:12

Time to move?
Is that a possibility OP?

Hoochyhoo · 17/02/2022 10:30

@NinaDefoe

Time to move? Is that a possibility OP?
Not really :( We are in too low a band rating with our local council/housing association and all other private rented want an home owner as a guarantor and I don’t have one

Ring environmental health, I have a mould spore allergy now after living with mouldy stuff from damp housing

Your LL is a shitty one - 3 kids too, terrible

If you can’t get out, do this. Complain officially to everyone you can think of.
