How long to register a property with land registry (creating new register)

I'm in the process of buying a flat (converted from a house) and discovered it has not been registered at all. The forms only went in a few weeks ago.

Does anyone have any idea how long this will take? Or how i can check on progress? OR if there would be anything i can do to speed it up?

A google search says 6 months to a year but surely not?!

Husband works for land registry and while a brand new registration would be 6-12 months (as in a completely new build property) yours doesn't sound like it's actually a new registration? If it's a house that has been split into flats then assuming the house itself was registered before it was split then it's much quicker and their solicitor can also request that the application be expedited. There's still a large backlog but should be a case of weeks not months!
www.gov.uk/guidance/contact-hm-land-registry has the contact details if you wanted to call/message them to ask about progress - they'll probably be limited on the details they can give you though as the application is by your vendor and their solicitors and not you.

Thank you so much for this reply, it encouraged me to phone up and check and yes it's been sorted already :-)
