RAL numbers for F&B

MrsJaneyLloydFoxe · 16/02/2022 14:46

My builder has asked me to provide the RAL number for the colour I want our new front door to be... I told him F&B ultramarine blue but they don’t provide RAL numbers... can anyone advise a good dupe for this that I could get the RAL number for?
I looked on e-paint website but that particular shade isn’t listed!!
TIA

Hi,

You can use this website, they have all the RAL codes etc for F&B, little greene, Dulux etc.

You can do this, but you might regret it. By matching the RAL colour you'll might get something close, but a cheaper paint won't have the pigment or colour saturation that F&B will. A front door isn't a particularly big area and is so prominent I'd just buy the F&B personally.

I've never had a colour match that I've been happy with. For some reason my decorator had a thing against F&B and wanted to colour match everything in Dulux. It wasted so much time and paint as it had to be redone as the tone was just all wrong.

The colour I want isn’t listed on epaint unfortunately.

Does anyone have a similar colour they know of? Or a great blue that will look good against white (villa style 1930s property)

Is your door going to be spray painted OP? If so the colour match can be quite different. Maybe better off choosing from an RAL chart?

It’s a composite door and I didn’t like any of the colours in the brochure and he said don’t worry, choose a colour and we can colour match if you can give me the RAL number

I got our front door colour matched in Cooks Blue. I have I idea how they worked the matching, but they used the Teknos spray paint system (it’s a timber door). I found looking on Instagram (searching tags for the paint colour name) helpful to see examples of different colour doors in situ.

I’m happy with it and I’m quite fussy, although I do wonder if I should have gone for green instead, I was aiming for I just wanted a nice welcoming cheery and unassuming blue.

I wouldn’t bother colour matching F&B estate emulsion since that def is the finish, pigment etc which makes it.

Update: just chose a nice RAL alternative instead as I think the colour match would never be that good and I couldn’t be bothered searching any longer!
