Mesher order

Hi everyone,

I have seen some previous posts re Mesher orders and the downfalls but I feel like it’s my only option. Has anyone had any positive experiences?

My ex and I were married for 5yrs, it was an abusive marriage (emotionally and financially). We have two children who are both under 5, both are disabled and require a lot of support and care. I gave up my career to care for our children and since he left I am now on benefits.

I have no mortgage capability. He took all our savings when he left. He stopped paying any of the mortgage when he left so I have been paying everything and can manage fine.

Renting isn’t really an option with our children as they require stability etc. My ex is in the military and already has appropriate housing for very little money.

He only sees our children twice a month.

Since leaving the family home he has racked up over £30,000 worth of debt.

I feel like the mesher order gives our children stability and gives me an opportunity to try and buy him out at some stage. But my IDVA (domestic abuse support) advises me to get a clean break.

We are both mid 30s.

Thanks in advance.

Hi OP. I'm not sure the property board will be much help to you - perhaps ask Mumsnet to move your post to Relationships or Legal?

It's all damp problems and kitchen island placement round these parts.

Best of luck - hope you get some good advice, that helps you on your path to rebuilding and reclaiming your life.

The legal board is a better bet but being brutally honest they are very unhappy
