What would you do? Rent or stay put?

We’re selling our house. We are number 4 in the chain with 1 being first time buyers. Numbers 1,2 and 3 are all ready to go. They have done searches and surveys and mortgages approved. Number 3 (our buyers) aren’t putting any pressure on us yet but we accepted their offer early December and so I think they may do soon.

Our issue is that we have had an offer accepted on a house we love (early Jan) . We have had mortgage approved and searches have all come back with no issues. The vendors are looking but have not found anything they like yet. They say they won’t go into rented. The market is very slow here and I’m worried they won’t find anything for a while.

We don’t want to lose our buyers. I feel really that our vendors should rent because they’re the ones who haven’t found a house yet but of course you can’t force people and we don’t want to put too much pressure on that they decide to take their house off the market because we really like it.

Would you look to go into rented if you were us? Not easy with 2 kids and a cat and usually minimum of 6 months contract. Rented homes also like gold dust here so not sure how possible it would be, maybe if we looked for someone renting privately.

Help?! What to do? This is all new to us. Thanks

I'd be hesistant to rent because your vendors could still pull out and then you're really left high and dry. I'd be putting the pressure on them as they're holding up the chain.

I wouldn't rent as pp said they could pull out.
A colleague of mine had an offer accepted on a house in early October she is a first time buyer with her fiance. They have just pulled out of the sale as 4 months down the line they have just pulled put as the vendor has yet to have an offer accepted on another property. You cod easily end up in a similiar situation and then be stuck in rented while you start again.
Around here the housing market is insane. I moved into our house 3 weeks ago and looked at the value on zoopla out of interest and its jumped 30 k in the 4 months since we made an offer
