Quote for bathroom tiles

Hallo

I've had a quote to redo the bathroom and one thing that jumped out at me was the cost of tiling - £1700 to install a waterproof membrane (don't think I've ever had one before) and to tile.

This doesn't include getting rid of old tiles or plastering.

It's for both the floor and the walls but it is a small bathroom. It's a lot even for London isn't it? Or is that the going rate at the moment?

Depends on whether it includes the actual tiles, grout, adhesive and the total square meterage…..

Not including tiles or materials. The room's about 2m by 2m, it's to tile one wall (above bath), around the sink and window ledge which I am sure is fiddly, and the floor.

We paid £50sqm in London in late 2020 for our tiler, and I think he also charged about £25sqm for applying the waterproof membrane (which is a good idea to have and most bathroom fitters recommend it.) So yes, £1,700 does sound rather expensive - but prices have definitely jumped in the past year. I’d get a couple of alternative quotes to see by how much.

Sounds about double what I'd expect. Get more quotes
