Which tiles? Kitchen makeover on a budget

We are planning on sprucing up our kitchen a bit this year as we are thinking of selling in the autumn. I am useless at interior design and need some help and inspiration! We also don’t have a huge amount to spend so looking for ways we can spruce up what we’ve already got as much as we can.

We will be having the backsplash re-tiled and need to decide what tiles to go for. I’ll attach photos of the current units and floor, the walls are a very pale grey. I’m open to painting the units and possibly redoing the walls but have no idea where to start!

Any ideas gratefully accepted!

I’d go for white metro tiles…

Possibly look at covering the worktop with a quartz topper…

Oooo and could you change handles to something a bit fancy?

I would go for plain, cheap as chips white metro tiles as PP suggested, and would put a vinyl floor down to update the floor

I was going to suggest changing the handles too, it would really lift it

I wouldn't actually. It looks clean and tidy to me so any buyer could think of their own alterations. You might make a right pig's ear of it OP if you attempt a cheap 'update'!

Thanks all! I think white might be a good neutral colour to go for. I'm nervous of dong anything with the floor or the countertops as I'm not great at anything DIY!

The only other thing I thought of would be to paint the cupboards but maybe they are fine as they are?

I wouldn't do anything to it. It looks clean, tidy, in good enough condition. Don't lay vinyl on top of floor tiles.

I'd leave it alone if you're selling. I certainly wouldn't do metro tiling, it's very dated now.
