A bit of a wwyd!

Last May we moved into a cul de sac of about 54 houses, quite nice area etc and every single front door and garage is white..

House's are about 26 years old so some have replaced but again in white.

We need to replace ours and checked covenants etc to see if it was a thing you had to do but nothing. So probably those who have replaced had same dilemma.

Would you go white and be boring or stand out like a sore thumb and go anthracite ??? There's the dilemma. Part of us thinks tough, it's what we want and it's our house but then again we'd be very obvious! 🤣🤣

Thoughts please..... thanks everyone 🙂

What colour are your windows/front door?

Frosty1000 · 13/02/2022 19:01

Everything is white. Door probably will be changed as well. Not windows though.

I would stand out

White door then.

What colour front door would you have?
On our estate, nearly everyone changing from white is doing the black/v dark grey and it looks awful. One or 2 have gone for red or navy to match their front doors and they look really good.
I do think the Dk grey windows/doors thing will date badly and looks terrible on the house around the corner 🤫

Of course, its your door, go for whatever makes you smile when you come home of an evening! But my two pennies worth is that if it was my house I'd change it if I didn't like the white, but I'd be quite careful to pick a colour that complements the bricks that the house was built with. I've seen anthracite doors that look great, and others that don't quite work. I think when it does work the front of the house has been considered as a whole, just like you'd co-ordinate your clothes if you were putting an outfit together.
