Water softner

Has anybody recently installed water softener in their house?
We are in London area and looking for reliable water softener installation services.
Any advise? Is it worth it?

We’ve had one for a few years now. Most definitely worth it in this area! My shower screens are always clear, no limescale on taps etc. Had ours installed by Harveys.

We live in a hard water area but not London so can't advise on installer but am glad we have a softener. We had to turn it off for a week recently and my goodness the difference, my hair was like straw, you could not get a whisper of a lather when washing, hate to think long term effects on pipes and appliances having seen the deposits in the kettle and shower screen

We have a non electric one that takes block salt, we used to rent a place with one that used loose salt and that was a messy pain, blocks are so much better
