First phases wiring - ring doorbell?

I want a Ring Doorbell (or something similar). The electrician has started wiring up in preparation for the next phase. Do I need to put an electrical supply to the front door for a Ring Doorbell?

If you want a wired in Ring doorbell, yes. For battery powered doorbells, no.

I really wanted a Ring doorbell, we tried wired and non-wired. Even got extra ooomph for the WiFi.

The doorbell was find, it took much too long to be able to respond via my mobile phone. Pity.

@FinallyHere thanks for that. This house doesn't even have broadband yet - that's my next job! I didn't realise that some simply don't work!

You can have the wiring put in ready and add a 'normal' doorbell. I expect in future the video doorbells will, like many other consumables, improve a lot.

Look at the Eufy ones. When I compared them with Ring they were better value, had better security and you don't pay an ongoing subscription to view the footage etc. Battery powered or wired too.

Thanks @BigotSpigot that's really helpful.
