Used kitchens? Is it a good idea to buy

As we did a new extension, the cost went really higher than we exoected... I think now for the 1st 2 years, to get a used kitchen... Is it a good idea? I saw some websites offering used kitchens, also on Facebook...

Which websites would be best?

I think Used Kitchen Exchange is fairly professional and reliable. My cousin got a kitchen from them and it was fine.

Absolutely. My kitchen was used when i put it in 5 years ago and its still in really good condition. It cost me £200. As long as you get a good joiner to fit it and source additional pieces if needed its a great way to save money.

Not unless you can fit it yourself as you will end up paying so much more for the fitting it's unlikely to be worth it.

I would say, find a really good kitchen fitter first. Only if you are confident you have an excellent fitter who can re jig things well, then you can look at used or ex display kitchens.

I’ve bought two second hand kitchens off of eBay (different houses obviously!). The first I had someone fit it for me, but the second DH fitted ourselves. The second one in particular was an absolute bargain, solid wood just brown in colour so was being ripped out and replaced. I resprayed it and it’s stood up well.

Both times I came up with a ‘design’ and scoured eBay until I found a large enough kitchen that I liked the look of and that had plenty of units to give myself some flexibility. Couple of minor design tweaks and off we went.

I don’t think I would ever buy a brand new kitchen again, there’s some real bargains out there for a fraction of the price.
