I need good stories please

I was FTB in a chain waiting for vendor to find an onward purchase when a second property come up
It take most of the boxes except a few and I (stupidly) decided to wait for the first
Vendor never found anything and refused to move forward.
Now the second property has exchanged and completed, as a very short chain, the vendor moving into new builds

Will I ever find the one ? (and after 6 months, prices keep increasing)

Maybe you should have offered on more than one property at a time? Maybe thats the solution.

Yes. We are also FTB and missed out on a house because we didn't go high enough (we could have afforded to, just thought it was over priced). In hindsight we should have gone for it as it's certainly worth the money (and more now!). I kicked myself for a long time. I remember walking past it a few months later and seeing a removal van outside and I went home and cried. Anyway, happy news we are just about to exchange on a house we love. Completely different to the first house but lovely in a different way. Hang in there, there is not just one house for everyone. Something will come up :)

Not quite the same situation but we had an offer accepted in March 2020 (just before lockdown). We waited 5 months and all conveyancing done for vendors to find a house before they pulled out and decided not to sell. By then the market was insane for the sort of property we were looking for (rural property with land in SW). It took us another 18 months of many viewings and offers to find another property.

We have now exchanged and complete in a couple weeks. It’s been so stressful, but we love the new property so much more. It’s definitely the right one for us, have no regrets.

Did the price increase a lot during that insane market?

Pretty scare by it right now
