Bathroom quote

Having our family bathroom redone. Not huge room but not tiny.

Total revamp including replastering but we aren't moving the plumbing. Mid range units and sanitary ware, separate shower and bath, shower panel and half tiling, flooring etc. everything bar the painting basically.

We have a quote from a well respected local independent and this is end to end everything. Quote is 15k inc vat.

I know that I could bring this in cheaper if I sourced stuff myself, got in the separate trades etc. however I am perfectly willing to pay for that as I just don't have the time/contacts/patience plus they will design it all, we're upgrading on stuff like the shower etc.

I was expecting something a bit closer to 12k but I think I may have forgotten vat. So I'm thinking not the cheapest but not total rip off, especially given price rises over the past 18 months.

Sound reasonable? In SW but in city suburbs rather than rural.

Also dh very surprised in a negative way that painting isn't included. Is he being unreasonable?

Get 3 quotes; sound expensive to me. However bathroom fittings can be ridiculously overpriced. Please don't separate the trades, they will all blame each other for any discrepancies and it will make scheduling a nightmare.
Husbands are never unreasonable.

We paid £15k for our bathroom back in 2014…..and it was a fairly large area, and didn’t include the painting or moving plumbing either. That was in the South East. I think it’s a fair estimate.

I paid £6k labour only 2 years ago. Prices can't have gone up that much! I'm in London. I called around tradesmen on the checkatrade website until I got a quote I was happy with.
