So, out of 6 rings only 3 work and they can be hard to light, I know this is probably due to cleaning products etc… but who can I ask to fix it?

I had one ring on my hob that didn't work. I took it apart and gave everything a really good wash. I also cleaned the part where the gas supply comes into it and found it clogged with bits of debris. I used a pipe cleaner to get into the small nooks and crannies. After that it worked.

Try cleaning it thoroughly first. If that doesn't work or you can't do it then you will probably need a gas safe registered plumber.

Take out the rings that make up the burners, clean and rinse them thoroughly and then dry them even more thoroughly.

If the ignition is by battery then install a new b--y.

I’m a landlord and got the call that the one ring on the gas hob wasn’t working. I went round and sure enough the little grooves in the gas ring were clogged up with congealed fat. After a soak in hot soapy water then a clean with an interdental brush, it worked like a charm. If there is food debris or fat there it will impede the gas getting to the spark. Worth also checking if the little aperture under the ring where the gas travels upwards from is blocked too.

Anyone know how to fix two gas rings where the automatic ignition fails? The gas is coming out and can be lit with a match/ a gas lighter stick, but they no longer ignite automatically. (The other two rings ignite fine).

DH says we probably need to replace the hob, but I think this must be repairable surely? What parts would be required, are they expensive?

I don’t know about that one? Try YouTube videos? Or buy a gas flame lighter?
