Survey on house

We sale agreed on a house 3 months ago with everything else in line, survey etc completed. The current vendors are waiting on their survey to be done on their new house that they have sale agreed. It is being done today. All going well how long should we expect for everything to move along and completion date?

Are they end of chain or is there an upwards chain?

If it's just you and them:

Report is done within around 10 working days from the survey taking place.
All searches with local council and land registry need to be returned. They are usually done within about a month of them being requested and should be one of the first thing the solicitors crack on with.
Your solicitor will phone you to let you know. Exchange will be scheduled a few days after that. Exchange is done over the telephone and (assuming you don't have buyers of your own, and your vendors don't have an upward chain) will easily be done in one day. Beginning with your solicitor and ending with the solicitor for the property that your vendors are buying.
Completion is scheduled after exchange. We opted for 2 weeks, but it could be more or less. Most people plump for between 2-4 weeks between exchange and completion.

If searches ARE all done and you are not in an upwards chain, you are likely 3-4 weeks from getting your keys.

Congratulations on your new home!!xxx

Awh thank you so much for the detailed reply!

This makes much more sense. We are kind of in the dark with it all as someone else is dealing with it on behalf of us.
It is just us and them in the chain which is a positive. We are patiently waiting for completion it really tests your patience lol!

Thanks again xx
