Recommendation for composite door

Can anyone recommend composite front door suppliers please? What brand is good to use? I am based in London and looking for something mid-range, good quality and not overly expensive. Thank you.

Which part of London are you? We got a Solidor installed by a company in Sutton, who cover SW London, Surrey, Sutton etc. Very happy with the door and work done.

Comefromaway · 24/01/2022 11:14

I'm not in London but I'm very pleased with my Solidor door.

MissusConnieB · 24/01/2022 15:25

I would say either Solidor or Endurance Doors. I went with Endurance at my mum's recommendation as they were really helpful when she wanted her back door replaced.

Both of these should cover London as they do most if not all of the UK. You could also look at finding a local company as well if you want to go straight to an installer rather than a manufacturer.

Which sort of colour and design are you looking for? Smile

I had a Rockdoor in my last house which was excellent. The supplier for my next house said he’d recently had problems with the finish on Solidors and was delighted I wanted another Rockdoor as he finds them better quality.

WhatAWasteOfOranges · 24/01/2022 16:45

Solidor are great but I think you might struggle with ‘not overly expensive’ Doors are not cheap!

Ribb · 24/01/2022 21:15

Not too sure what your budget is but I have a Rock door. Get lots of compliments and they are very secure.

I have had one quote for Endurance door, it's about £3000 including VAT. Is this reasonable? Please see the photos. Do you prefer the oak door or the red door on a white wall?
Thanks a lot.

The red one is lovely

£3,000 does seem a lot. My door fitted a year ago was £1,500. I'd expect London fitting to be a bit more, but not double the cost.

We had rock doors front & back , they've been in 8/9 years and never been a problem.

TobyHouseMan · 25/01/2022 20:09

We used these guys for a back door 3 years ago - no problems and good quality door. www.grpcompositedoors.com

Fitting is not rocket science and would take someone a day or so.

It looks as if the OP's quote includes a toplight and sidelight though which will make it more expensive.
Ribb · 25/01/2022 21:55

I paid £2400 and had side glass removed and replaced with wider door and panels. London too (NE edge).

Also, I love the red door!

I have received a quote for Solidor for something similar. It's £3600.
Has anyone fitted one recently? The whole building trade is saying price has gone up a lot in the last couple of years.

I had a Solidor fitted last year and am very happy with it.

Floralnomad · 26/01/2022 11:19

We’ve got a Solidor , it’s a few years old and was about 1k but that was part of a larger package of other stuff . It is a very nice door though . On the solidor website you can design a door and I assume they then quote for it .

I would avoid Endurance Doors like the plague. We had one fitted after a recommendation and review of the brochure and website. Despite it apparently being a 'premium product', it has a nasty cheap plastic finish and texture. The door and frame also do not match. The brochure and website do not give an accurate impression of the finish. We bitterly regret our choice and are saving to replace the door. If you are seriously interested, don't make the mistake we made: go and see an example of the door in real life, and if shiny plastic with massive fake wooden ridges is your thing, then Endurance could be a good choice for you.

MissAtomicBomb1 · 07/12/2024 22:11

We've just had several quotes for a composite door, 2 full length side panels and an arched fanlight above. They ranged from £3300-£4500 for a solidor.
We went with a local company in the end who use a supplier called fast frame.

OP is your front door south facing? We were told that the reds can fade in strong sunlight over time. I'd go fr the oak one personally.
