How to remove ugly door knocker

I have a PVC (I think) door that I want to spruce up, including changing out the horrible door knocker. I've slid a knife under it,,so it's not fixed to the door on all surfaces, but it seems pretty stuck on, with no visible signs it's been drilled in. Any ideas on how to remove without damaging the door?

Its not straight-forward...it may be fixed to the door with a hidden fixing. You could trying working a strong piece of waxed thread behind it to see if it is physically connected to the door (rather than glued) or there may be a small grub screw at the top and bottom that could allow the knocker to be removed leaving behind a bracket.

The video below shows how to fit one and so it might be possible to prise the doorknocker of it's bracket - but you could damaged the door!
