Character house vs modern??

We live in a house built in the 30’s in a fab location - we’ve been here 5 years. Septic tank and semi rural….. 2 mins up the road are new builds- they are so tempting - new kitchens and bathrooms. We would need £50k loan to finish current house. Newer houses are cheaper so wouldn’t need loan to get new kitchen and bathrooms that newer homes offer. Schools won’t be affected! Has anyone moved from old character house to modern? Did you regret it? We are thinking utilities will be cheaper etc? Thanks

I'm desperate to move to a new house. Better insulation, smaller garden, not have stuff going wrong all the time. You'll do that £50k of work and there'll be something else that needs doing.
