Party wall - how long do you accept liability for?

We are adding in extra detail to our party wall agreement at the request of our neighbours. They have asked us to add that we will be liable for damage after the party wall award expires and work is done. I want to put some sort of end date on it but what amount of time is reasonable??

Errr do you have a party wall surveyor to advise you on this? They should be able to state for how long after works take place any movement observed could relate to the works you did. I wouldn’t just pluck a number of weeks or months from the air…

We are doing it ourselves so that's why I'm not sure what to commit to.

Use a surveyor, it costs more but it is worth every penny.

OK maybe it's time to admit defeat!
