In the middle of a town very close to where we used to live, but the back garden is at such an angle from streetlights that’s it’s like a little dark sky area. The stars are great.

Fantastic draw on the chimney.

The water pressure is amazing.

I can see the church, and like a PP, hear the bells.

The neighbours (it's a small gated devopment) all have more kids than we expected and have been so welcoming and talking about how the kids play outside together in the summer.

I haven't gone to the bakery opposite as often as I thought 😅

Keiki · 20/01/2022 07:44

The views. Obviously I knew it was in the countryside but both the sunrises and sunsets are amazing at this time of year. I can't imagine ever growing tired of them.

BasiliskStare · 20/01/2022 07:48

We have a tiny tiny garden - more of a really small patio but the tree at the back I thought would be a nuisance has had birds nesting in for 3 years. Lovely to see the little ones learning to fly

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 20/01/2022 07:51

There's air conditioning in our bedroom. And it works!
It's the only bloody thing that works as the previous owners managed to ruin everything else.
It was a god send last summer when it was sweltering and it's got a fantastic heat setting which we are having to use as the room is bloody freezing and all the radiators are naff.

Redeyed · 20/01/2022 07:52

Our house has a lovely feel to it.

It is designed really well.

Lots of storage.

Very well insulated, new build.

Lovely neighbours, like a pp said not in your face but there if you need them.

View over the hills at the back (though we did notice this).

Avarua · 20/01/2022 07:53

There's a massive (actually massive) network of hilly dog walks nearby where the dog can be off lead.

Snowiscold · 20/01/2022 07:55

Original Victorian tessellated floor in hall under several layers of lino and carpet.

We bought this house in the winter where there was a very bare but beautiful tree in the garden. It turned out to be a gorgeous pink cherry blossom tree with dark red leaves.

My DM always promised to buy me a cherry blossom tree as a wedding gift but sadly she died before we got married and we moved into this house exactly 11 months after she died

TellMeItsPossible · 20/01/2022 08:01

I live in a sort of a tardis house, end terrace 3 stories with a large usable basement, and an extended kitchen with a laundry room. I didnt fully appreciate the size until lockdown and we were stuck together for months on end. We didn't actually kill each other because we had so many places to hide away.

stickygotstuck · 20/01/2022 08:03

Nothing. I still miss my old house terribly.
Sorry to bring the mood down Blush.

Mellowyellow222 · 20/01/2022 08:08

It’s a semi
But the sound proofing is amazing. There are three children next door and I never hear a peep! The parents are always apologising for the noise and honestly you would think their house is empty!

In my last house I could hear everything. Everything🤮

Newgirls · 20/01/2022 08:10

It’s a very good garden for growing things

MissBattleaxe · 20/01/2022 08:12

When we bought our house, there was an ugly gas fire in the living room. When we took it off, there was a fantastic original tiled 1910 fireplace behind it. We'd been looking longingly at similar fireplaces in a reclamation yard a few weeks before, not knowing we had one all along.

Manzana · 20/01/2022 08:13

that we have Slow Worms living in the garden (London) and they have babies in our compost heap

balzamico · 20/01/2022 08:15

Owl in the garden, magnolia tree and breakfast in morning sun every day as dining room faces east

AChickenCalledDaal · 20/01/2022 08:17

The chip shop just along the road is run by lovely people, the food is delicious and I can smell chips from my back garden (in a good way).

ImInStealthMode · 20/01/2022 08:18

We're in a 3rd floor flat. Realised during lockdown 1 that the very wide exterior windowsills and a flat roof directly below meant we could safely get out of the lounge window, sit on the sill, drink a beer in the sun and fresh air and see the sea.

Also, an ironing board hook in the airing cupboard.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 20/01/2022 08:20

It's a 60 second walk to a Country Park with rivers, playground and cafe. Didn't even know it was there.

Youaremypenguin · 20/01/2022 08:21

We have hedgehogs, neighbours are all lovely. I totally underestimated the usefulness of a downstairs loo with a toddler and three toilets when the bugs hit is just amazing ☺️.

We live in a town but a short walk away (5mins) is the country, a wood and beautiful farmland. During lockdown this was vital!

alwayswrighty · 20/01/2022 08:22

Neighbours. We have done a lot of chatting over the fence, etc as we moved in 2 days before the first lockdown. They are an absolute delight and genuinely couldn't have nicer neighbours.

Nitgel · 20/01/2022 08:22

I really hope the people who bought my mils house appreciate the many tulips that bloom in march.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 20/01/2022 08:24

The neighbours, an older couple with grown up kids who routinely have my preschooler round for “cocktails” while I potter in the garden.

Randomly, a hidden kitchen drawer inside another drawer. I designed the kitchen myself but just sort of forgot about it.

caringcarer · 20/01/2022 08:25

Day after we moved on I walked 5 mins down road to post box and saw a little underpass. Being nosey I thought I wonder where that goes. I walked down under it and spotted a wonderful lake to walk around about 2km, just right for walking my small dogs. It also has a cycle path all the way around it too.

Longingforatikihut · 20/01/2022 08:26

Lovely neighbors in every direction.

The sound of the cockerel on the allotments at the top of the street. Grew up in agriculture so it makes me feel at home.

caringcarer · 20/01/2022 08:28

Oh, snowiscold, what a lovely find for you.
