Those who have anthracite grey window frames on the outside... Talk to me about interior frame colours please!

We've discovered all ten of our interior windows and the front door need replacing ASAP, so we've decided to take the opportunity to drag our 1980s home into the modern age. We'd talked about having anthracite grey on all the outside frames and the door, which I agree with, but I'd assumed we'd go white for the inside. However DH has announced it's literally the one thing he wants most in the reno process is to have anthracite as the interior colour as well. While I can't lie that I'm not a fan, I've said I can compromise for most rooms, but I'm really struggling to accept that our bedrooms will also be anthracite on the inside, it just seems so dark and cold... Not homely and a bit prison-like? I've recently redecorated the kids' rooms and painted the dark wooden frames white, it made such a positive difference to how light and airy the rooms felt that I'm worried that going with dark grey frames will be a step backwards.

I really, really, don't like the idea (especially when the person we had out to quote said it's actually cheaper to have a white interior frame), but I can also tell that this means a lot to my husband so I really want to try and like it.

So... Anyone who went with anthracite frames can you either tell me what colour you went with on the inside if it was different? And if you did go with anthracite inside throughout please can you share whether you regret it or reassure me that it won't make the bedrooms feel like I'm serving time in HM Mummabubs.

Thanks all!

Anthracite with silver fixtures outside; white with brass fixtures inside. I think grey is dating rapidly for interiors. I wasn’t worried about it outside because the get blends well with the stone of the house so it’s a natural fit.

One thing I do t think I would do is a mixture. .. it looks like you couldn't make up your mind or that the windows were done at different points... a bit like when some houses had part Georgian frames and part plain glass...

We have anthracite UPVC inside and out and it's fine. However, it's a new build, the walls are all painted white (with the exception of two bedrooms which are pink and coral) and the windows themselves are decent sizes. The size of them definitely dilutes the impact of the dark frame, and it fits the contemporary style of the house.

I think in a 1960s home I would be the same as you and prefer white interior frames in the bedrooms. His attitude to this would really piss me off.

One thing I did do in the bedrooms was keep the window return and the sill white, which does make it a lot brighter and tone down the frankly, clash, of the anthracite. I can post photos if you want.

If your DH is so fixated then I think you should just go with that throughout. You might end up going down the route of adapting your interior decor to match. You might even end up painting them white. But the grey might look quite cool, and if it doesn't then you should get free reign on home decor decisions for the rest of time, lol.

There are only a few kids bedrooms with grey frames that I could find, most seem to have white. The frames tend to be thin ones too, so I imagine pricey. I've attached one I've found.
Maybe go for it on the proviso if it does look too dark they will be changed for white inside?
Is there any where that can do a CAD drawing with what the rooms would look like with the dark frames vs the white frames? You need the Your Home Made Perfect team Grin
