Moving to Horley

Hello everyone,
My husband and I are considering moving to Horley. We live in South London at the moment and want to get far enough away to feel distanced from what we don't like about it, but close enough that we can commute in for work.
Can anyone share with me what Horley is like? Is it good for kids? Is it diverse (my children are mixed race)?
Property prices seem more reasonable in that you get more for your money but I don't want to go from frying pan to fire.
Any info on what the area is like to live in would be great.
Thanks all.

Ooh I used to live between there and Reigate. Horley is okay but it is seen as the 'cheaper' area. You can definitely get more for your money but it's less affluent than surrounding areas and the town is not as nice. However, I'm saying that in comparison to the likes of Reigate and Dorking which are utterly lovely! Its got decent amenities including park and leisure centre and enormous Tesco and great large soft play. Not particularly diverse (nearby larger tiwn Crawley is a bit more so). You're only a short distance away from some seriously stunning countryside and beautiful towns and villages.
Any particular reason you've gone for Horley?

We moved to Horley 3 years ago having previously lived in Reigate for 10 years. Our house in Reigate was half the size of our house in Horley & I actually find the aircraft noise less here than it was in Reigate. Everyone has their own opinion so I suggest taking a drive down & having a look around. Its a lot more diverse than it used to be around here.

We are also considering a move to Horley, we've just had an offer accepted but can't make up our minds on it.

I've heard that the Court Lodge Road estate is rough and the town does look a bit run down as you walk around it, but we stayed overnight and it was quiet + people seemed really nice. Not much there but the neighbouring towns of Reigate + Crawley have lots to offer.
