Flooring- will it look weird?

To have original restored floorboards in the living room, and another wooden floor (solid oak) in the rest of the downstairs (hall plus kitchen)

We can't afford to do the whole of the downstairs right now, but the living room carpet that the previous owners left is seriously manky, stained, and needs to go. I love the look of floorboards and we've been told ours are in good nick. But they will be different in shade and direction from the hallway. Will it bother me every time I walk in?! Argh

We are doing this. Restoring original herringbone parquet in living room and hall. Then wood look plank LVT in extension and utility and restoring original floorboards in dining room.

They all flow from each other so you can stand in the hall and see 4 different floorings, well 5 with stair carpet. I'm hoping that with all being same material (ish) that it will work.

It'll be fine, it's just the story of the houses domestic history, you won't notice it after a while. If it was pine +mahogany maybe but otherwise it'll be great. You've nothing to lose, you can always carpet next year if you want then.
