I am trying to work our my moving costs. So far I have accounted for mortgage fee, removal van, stamp duty and conveyancing for buying and selling. Is there anything I've missed?

Nothing I can think of to be honest, searches come under solicitors fee, possible Royal Mail diverting mail if you want to think of everything.

We sold and moved into rented last year (trying to buy now).

Yes, those are the costs we incurred that you've listed. The removal quotes were quite variable.

There were also more incidental costs that added up (some of them were only £20-30 but you only need a few of those to get into larger amounts!):

We found that we couldn't move our cheaper gas/electric package to a different property so had to go onto a much more expensive standard variable rate. This will then increase again this year whereas old package would have run for more than another year.

Car insurance charged a fee for changing address. House insurance had to end policy, get a sort of pro-rata refund minus fee, then take out new policy.

Depending on how far you're moving we ended up having to pay for a night in a hotel as the distance we were going meant there was a night with all the beds in vans!

We also ended up with 3 weeks of very limited cooking facilities in the new house which meant about 2 weeks more of ready meals/takeaways than we'd planned for.

We had unexpected savings though - switching the Sky contract put us on a better but cheaper deal!

Removals - 1279.10
Estate agents - 2700
Solicitors - 4218.77
Redirect - 80
House insurance - 210
Carpet Cleaning - 110

The above was our moving costs. Obviously carpet cleaning is dependant on where you are moving to and luckily our property was empty and they let us clean the carpet after exchange but before completion.

Stamp Duty, any cost for moving broadband and final utility bills, electrician/gas man to remove and install appliances.
