Washing Machine/Tumble Dryer in bathroom - problem

Hi All,

We've had a garage conversion done, it contains a small shower room within which we've also stacked a washing machine and tumbled dryer. They are not in a cupboard.

The washing machine and dryer are less than 3 metres from the shower. Inexplicably, the electrician working on the job has seen fit to install a normal plug socket on the wall to connect the machines too. Obviously this is a breach of regulations.

Can anyone advise our options to sort? I've lost confidence a bit in the person managing this project on our behalf, and the electrician has done some pretty shoddy work elsewhere on the conversion so i'm losing trust that i'll get straight answers from them. Indeed, the project manager has just suggested installing an RCD protected "outdoor" style socket instead, but im still unsure if doing this would meet regs. I've asked for proof it does.

In the meantime, any advice as to what could actually be done to make this adhere to regs 100% would be really helpful. Ideally we wouldn't want a cupboard (space constraints).
