Hallway storage ideas please!

DP is about to move in and add his multiple huge goretex coats and size 11 timberlands to our already cluttered hallway. 2 dc with school bags and PE kits, coats, shoes for dc and me. I have 1930s semi with decent width hallway and there is space to store everything but just can’t work out how to do it!
Currently have 2 x shoe racks and 1 x coat rack. Would like cubby holes for school bags and also to have everything at bottom of stairs as currently is further down the hall by the kitchen.
Could also add row of hooks by downstairs loo for spare coats?
Want something that looks cohesive and not cluttered.
Has anyone managed this? Thanks!

I've got 8 unit kallax boxes under the stairs, 2 for each - one for shoes and one for hats, bags etc.

We've converted our garage and have a slim wardrobe for coats in there as no space for pegs.

Google Clever Closet - it uses the space under your stairs. We had a joiner do something similar and it's transformed the space. Think that's well worth it compared to buying more stuff to clutter the space.

I must admit if it's a small hall way I'm not a fan of the those hidden units even though I'm sure they are the absolute best for storage!
One neighbour has them and I think it's small.
We have a cupboard and gap under stairs but on the the other side they have zilch and it feels so much more spacious.

Do you have space for slim depth cupboards? Either slim depth IKEA Pax or Billy with doors. Hide it all away.

@Africa2go
This looks amazing! We are hoping to do the same at our house.
Was it an expensive project? :)

That is to die for Africa2go. I have got an under stairs cupboard but I would love a proper designed space like that.

Africa2go · 09/01/2022 09:20

I should say that's not my house!

We only have half of the storage as we had a loo under the stairs too at the time we had it done, it was about £500. I'm guessing maybe £800-1000 to have the whole space done.

Agree that looks amazing! Understairs space already in use here though, accessed from the back, as pantry in kitchen extension. I like idea of cupboards but dc and dp want to come in/out grab shoes coats and run. So need neat shoe and coat racks by door. Just can find any that fill the space and match! Approx 60cm on left of door and 1m on right.

This kind of thing? www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/pinnig-coat-rack-with-shoe-storage-bench-black-20329789/

I'd look at small wardrobes on Ebay as well - may be nicer to have the coats hidden away if a lot of them.
